Rather than clog up your inbox with a thousand separate emails, we thought we could write a quick blog post to share what we’ve been up to. So, if you have any interest in coffee roasters in Wales, slave free chocolate, chatGPT or various other coffee and non-coffee related things, read on!
First things first, we’ve launched our South Wales coffee subscription! The subscription works in the same way as our “Bristol and Bath” and “London” offerings, with subscribers receiving monthly deliveries from some of the best Welsh coffee roasters around.
How does it work? Simply select South Wales as your location on the shop section of our site and hit subscribe. We’ll then process your order, send you a welcome pack and work with our Wales coffee roasters to send you different bags of locally roasted coffee beans at the start of each month. Each delivery will include information about the origin of the beans (how they were grown, picked, dried, processed etc.), any positive initiatives they help support, and of course a bit about the roasters themselves. So, if you live in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport - or anywhere in South Wales for that matter - check it out! You can find out more here: coffee roasters Wales
Not content with teaming up with nine Wales coffee roasters, we’ve also partnered with Tony’s Chocolonely to bring something new to the table… the chance to add monthly deliveries of slave free chocolate to your subscription!
Currently, the bit of the chocolate supply chain between farmers and consumers is dominated by a small selection of giant companies who profit from keeping cocoa prices as low as they possibly can. Keeping these prices so low means farmers have to live in poverty, leading to the use of illegal child labour and modern slavery. Tony’s Chocolonely are on a mission to change this. They aim to ensure everyone in the chocolate supply chain is treated fairly by investing in long-term partnerships with farmer cooperatives, paying cocoa farmers higher prices and making chocolate with traceable cocoa. They want to raise awareness and inspire others to act; we think they’re doing a great job! Keep your eyes peeled for a longer blog post about this that we’ll be releasing in the near future.
The final topic we wanted to talk about is the use of AI, specifically ChatGPT. What do people think about it? Will it have any impact on the coffee industry? Should we embrace it as a useful resource (e.g. by using it to write blog posts in seconds or as a helpful chatbot on our website) or does it take the skill and soul out of writing and threaten jobs? Personally, we’re not sure. We asked ChatGPT to write us a short but entertaining article about our South Wales coffee subscription and our partnership with Tony’s Chocolonely to see what it came up with. Here are the impressive/terrifying results…! Let us know what you think.
